Tamworth Community to Honor Son, Brother, Friend at ‘Seek The Joy’ Comedy Night

Seek the Joy Comedy Night Fundraiser August 22

Tickets are now on sale for the First Annual Silas Berrier Memorial ‘Seek the Joy’ Comedy Night to be held on Monday, August 22 at the Public House on Page Hill in Tamworth, NH. Doors open at 7 p.m. Show begins at 8:00 p.m.

An evening of hilarious comedy will benefit a profoundly serious cause: mental health care. Proceeds from the show will support activities that foster wellness for Tamworth residents receiving mental health assistance through Northern Human Services.

The ‘Seek the Joy’ committee came together to honor the memory of a truly unforgettable young man, inspired by his passion for stand-up comedy. Silas grew up in Tamworth, thriving in a community that respects and nurtures its young people. When he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in high school, it was the fundamental strength of his upbringing, coupled with the extraordinary support of mental health services in the Mount Washington Valley, that saw him through dark times. Silas tragically passed away in a single-car accident in Colorado on June 16, 2021.

‘Seek the Joy’ features three outstanding comedians: Scotty Cav, once named ‘the funniest guy at UNH’, will start the night off. Next up is Carolyn Plummer, who brilliantly throws a comical twist on everything normal, making the ‘average’ seem larger than life. Corey Rodrigues, a Boston-based comedian who is rapidly gaining national and international fame, will round out the show with his positive, irresistibly-funny commentary on his life and on the world at large. MC for the night is Jeb Berrier, co-director of the annual Telluride Comedy Festival.

This event is made possible by generous support from the Tamworth Foundation, our gracious hosts (Deb and Chris Franchi, proprietors of ‘Public House on Page Hill’), and countless hours of dedicated effort from the committee itself (unofficially dubbed ‘Seek the Joy Productions’), working diligently to bring everything together for a successful and memorable evening.
