Human Resources: We Want You…To Be part of the NHS Team!

What is Involved in the Process to Recruit and On-board Quality Staff?

These days, with so many staffing challenges, we have pulled out all the stops in an effort to add to our already amazing staff! Some of those stops include initiating an employee referral bonus and sign-on bonuses.

The Hiring Process Explained

For every position at Northern Human Services, we start the hiring process by reviewing the need for the position; the job description itself; and expected duties.

Once this initial review is completed, we begin what is known as a requisition process to ensure that we are being fiscally responsible as it applies to the identified position. This includes reviewing the ‘vacancy’ and the available financial resources to fund the position. If the position meets all of these requirements, we will begin the recruiting process.

What is Involved in the Recruitment Process?

We use a variety of methods to recruit staffing, such as staff referrals, newspaper and other industry postings, as well as internet job posting sites. NHS is presently contracted with Indeed.

Applications are in…Now What?

Every resume is evaluated upon submission for related experience, salary requirements, credentials and other skill set requirements or preferences.

Once a resume is determined to meet the specific job requirements, we invite the applicant to participate in the interview process. Promising applicants will continue through the hiring process, which includes checking references and beginning necessary background checks. Once these final steps are complete, we will make a formal job offer that results in completing the hiring process and transitioning to on-boarding our newest hire.

Challenges to the Hiring Process

Today’s market is fraught with challenging issues, including a diminished interest in traditional workforce positions and competing employers (and for NHS non-profit competing against for-profit environments).

The other unique challenge that NHS faces is its geography within our locales. These areas have fairly stable demographics, and much of the established population either is already part of the NHS team or has previously worked for us as part of their employment journey.

How You Can Help

We are always looking for compassionate, caring, skilled and professional people to supplement our amazing team! If you know of someone who would be a great fit for NHS, please direct them to their local NHS office for more info.
